Ahrefs
Similar to Moz, Ahrefs is a robust and powerful tool that covers everything you could want in an SEO tool. It's most useful in keyword research, where it lets you explore keyword opportunities and find long-tail versions. It also has a host of competitor analysis features that can show how your site is stacked up against your competition's content. Ahrefs isn't perfect for link analysis (I'll get into that shortly), but if you're looking for keywords, there are few other tools I would recommend more highly. If nothing else, giving its interface another look just for content ideas might be worth it alone; it's one of my personal favorites when I'm working on big sites.
SEMRush
SEO has evolved over time, as has how SEO tools have adapted. The SEO tools available to you today will look different in 2022 than they do now. But one tool that has been around for a while is SEMRush, and it’s still going strong with an impressive range of features. One major benefit of SEMRush is that it provides you with competitor research right alongside your own keyword information. If your competitors are doing well for their specific keywords, there’s value in learning why—even if you don’t end up using that knowledge directly in a PPC campaign or organic ranking strategy. Another interesting feature from SEMRush is its organic traffic estimates, which can be helpful in determining your search engine optimization success rate.
Moz
If you’re interested in marketing your business, there’s a good chance you’re familiar with Moz. According to HubSpot, Moz provides free SEO tools like keyword and domain analysis along with advice on how to optimize your site. That's just one example of what they offer; they also publish weekly SEO news blogs, tool and technique guides, webinars and more. If you're looking for an affordable way to keep track of search engine trends, check out Moz—you'll be able to stay on top of industry changes without breaking your budget.
UberSuggest
If Google were a brick-and-mortar store, UberSuggest would be its concierge. After typing in your keyword, UberSuggest delivers a list of every related keyword that exists. Because Google's autocomplete algorithm still doesn't surface all related keywords like it should, more and more SEOs rely on tools like UberSuggest for uncovering long-tail keywords (and finding better ones for #1 ranking). The tool is built around autocomplete results for specific websites, but you can use it to discover keywords for yourself or a client as well. Just plug in any URL (not just yours) and see what comes up. Bonus: You can access UberSuggest with your free Moz Pro account!
Google Search Console
If you’re a regular user of Google search, Google has a whole set of products and services just for you. One service you should start using immediately is Google Search Console. It’s not going anywhere, it provides lots of insights into your site’s performance and it might also give you some ideas about how to improve your SEO and web design. For example, did you know that keywords with fewer than three words often get under-represented in results? You can fix that by adding more words or synonyms to related content.
Conclusion
The future looks bright for SEO! With all these tools available, search engine optimization can only grow in popularity and importance. Our advice? Go back and grab your 2-year or 5-year or 10-year plan again. Take a look at what you wrote when you were just starting out and think about whether or not it’s still on track today. If so, congratulations! You’re ahead of schedule—and we wish you good luck on your way to meet those goals.
